Eben beschreibt mir eine Email der DEMYC, wie schon ein ungezwungener, freundlich-fröhlicher Kontakt mit jungen Leuten des freien Westens im Reich des Lukaschenko zur Festnahme führt:
The DEMYC study visit to Belarus, supported by the European Youth Foundation, was successfully conducted on January 10-13. Pictures of the study visit can be found at http://pildid.liive.net/index.php?cat=15 After the departure of the DEMYC delegation, ten members of the hosting organizations Belarusian Popular Front (BPF) Youth and the Young Front (Malady Front) were arrested and imprisoned. These people are Franak Viachorka, Anton Kalinouski, Yuras Stankevich, Uladzimir Syarheew, Kasya Krasnova, Lyudmila Atakulava, Kasya Halitskaya, Maksim Vyarnyanski, Paval Kuryanovich and Volha Kulyakevich.
These ten young people were arrested and have been sentenced for up to 15 days in prison without any justified verdict. They have been sentenced to prison for “using bad language”. Some of them were beaten by the police in order to confirm their participation in a peaceful demonstration.
DEMYC urges all its friends and member organizations who stand for freedom and human rights to mobilize for the human rights of the people of Belarus, especially after the events of these days.
Please print the DEMYC letter to institutions and send it to MEPs, International Secretaries of your Party, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and any other institution which stands for human rights.
There has already been some mobilization from DEMYC and its member organizations: an action through a letter of protest to the Embassies of Belarus, articles on national press, letters and briefings to several European politicians, but there is more we can do! Lets all do something simple to help the admirable struggle of our friends in Belarus
